Fire Marshal Indicates Arson at 2408 3 Avenue North

Monday morning November 3, the Moorhead Fire and Police Departments responded to an occupied apartment complex fire at 2408 3rd Avenue North in Moorhead. Firefighters were able to extinguish the fire without anyone being harmed. The Moorhead Fire Department Fire Marshal has concluded that the fire is a result of Arson. The investigation is on-going so specific details about the investigation can not be discussed at this time. No suspects have been identified as of this time.

Anyone that may have seen or heard anything that may provide insight as to possible suspect(s) information is asked to contact the Moorhead Police Department on-duty supervisor through the Red River Regional Dispatch Center at 701.451.7660.

A reward up to $2,500 is being offered by the Minnesota Arson Reward Project for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the responsible party.

“Belle Époque” pops up at the mall

Moorhead Center Mall’s first holiday pop-up indie boutique, “Belle Époque” literally means, “Beautiful Era” in the French language. It was a period during French and Belgian history beginning in 1871 and ending in 1914 where the arts flourished and many masterpieces of literature, music, theater, and visual art gained recognition.

In the same spirit, the city of Moorhead is entering its own “Belle Époque”. There are many citizens of the community that are dedicated to revitalizing businesses and the arts within the city.

Belle Époque is part of that movement and is collaboration between the City of Moorhead, The Moorhead Center Mall, The Arts Partnership (Susie Ekberg Risher Grant) and more than 30 local artists from North Dakota and Minnesota.

The boutique will open to the public November 1, 2014-December 31, 2014 and will feature unique, handmade gifts from local artists. The Grand Opening is scheduled for Saturday, November 8 from 1:00 p.m.-4:00 p.m. Hot chocolate will be served and a 10% discount will be offered on all items in the store.

Assistance to Further Investigation

Moorhead Police obtained this surveillance image of the female responsible for the October 23, 2014 robbery at the Tesoro gas station located at 104 8th Street South. This female robbed the Tesoro gas station at approximately 11:00 a.m. and was wearing uniquely colored pajama pants. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Red River Regional Dispatch Center 701.451.7660 and ask to speak with the on-duty Moorhead Police supervisor.
