5th Annual U.S. Bank Operation Joes for GIs Sloppy Joe Meal:

Location: U.S. Bank Service Center at 4325 17th Ave SW and U.S. Bank Plaza downtown Fargo

U.S. Bank Operation Salute Our Service Members is sponsoring a $5 sloppy joe meal, Joes For GIs: all proceeds to benefit military organizations, military members, and their families in North Dakota. Military vehicles on display, color guard, missing man ceremony, National Anthem, flyover with a military aircraft. Rain make up would be Friday Aug 8.

Stroll for Epilepsy:

This family-friendly event is the largest fundraising/awareness event in MN & ND to benefit people with seizures. Funds raised support programs and services for the 60,000 people in our community with epilepsy.

Rinita Dahlin will discuss the archaeology excavation and exploration of the Comstock grounds where MSUM students have worked for two summers to uncover the grounds of the carriage house, any remaining building materials and the road leading from Eighth Avenue onto the Comstock grounds, she will share her findings and discuss her work.

Community Play Day:

Take a Free Play Day! Kids will have fun playing yard games, making take home crafts, and climbing on the playground. Daycares are welcome. Adult supervision is required.

Brat Sale to Benefit Presentation Partners in Housing:

Please join us for a Brat Sale to Benefit Presentation Partners in Housing. Presentation Partners in Housing (PPiH) is a prevention program sponsored by the Sisters of the Presentation, Fargo to assist people who are homeless or threatened by homelessness, and who in spite of their personal efforts are struggling to meet their basis needs. PPiH assists with first month’s rent and deposit, rent/mortgage payments to prevent eviction/foreclosure and utility payments to prevent disconnections. This one-time assistance is intended to get people back on their feet and moving towards self-sufficiency.

Fiber Arts Fest:

Punk, Rock, Metal! Two bands! All ages welcome! Get your friends and come out to see the areas up and coming musicians. All ages are welcome to attend. August 11 will feature Alden at 7:00pm and San Haven Chuckle at 8:00pm.

ChalkFest:

Family-friendly event for all ages. Food, music and art, games and project specifically for children from 2 to 4 p.m., food for sale from 4 to 7 from local vendors, also a cupcake walk, music at 6 p.m. by Diane Miller and the Silver Daggers.

Furry Friends Pet Walk:

Walk to save the lives of homeless pets in the F/M Area. Join us for our annual fundraiser for Adopt-A-Pet in August 2012. A 3k walk with or without your pet will benefit Adopt-A-Pet, whose primary goal is placing rescued pets in loving and responsible homes. Register By: 5:30 PM, 3K Walk Begins: 6:00 PM.

Launch of the first volume of her new book, Prairie Boys at War: Korea, the personal stories of combat veterans from North Dakota, South Dakota, Minnesota, Iowa, Nebraska and Montana; open to the public, there will be appetizers and a cash bar.

One Book, One Community event: Author visit with Christina Baker Kline:

The libraries will kick off the One Book, One Community reading project with an author visit and presentation by Christina Baker Kline. All ages are invited to the free event. A book signing will follow Baker Kline’s presentation. This event is part of the One Book, One Community event series.
