Our new exhibit in the Rotating Exhibit Gallery “Fighting the Fires of Hate: America and the Nazi Book Burnings,” on loan from the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum will have its grand opening and ribbon cutting July 10, 2014 from 4:00-6:00pm.
Community Play Day:

Take a Free Play Day! Kids will have fun playing yard games, making take home crafts, and climbing on the playground. Daycares are welcome. Adult supervision is required. This program is free thanks to Xcel Energy Foundation.
Stencil Spray Dye T-shirts – Crafts for Teens:

“Big Love” Performance:
Location: North Dakota State University in Fargo

Performance will be held in front of the library, presented by Governor’s School, Theatre B and NDSU Theatre Arts, the story of 50 brides who flee their 50 grooms and seek refuge in a villa on the coast of Italy in this modern remaking of one of the western world’s oldest plays, “The Danaids” by Aeschylus. Audience members encouraged to bring blankets and lawn chairs for seating.

Free Toy Theatre Workshop:

Led by Sandy Spieler, artistic director of In the Heart of the Beast Mask and Puppet Theatre in Minneapolis. Participants will build small tabletop stages for performances that explore the theme of oil and water in Spieler’s production of “Its Presence Reaches Everywhere;” advance registration required at www.plainsart.org.

Refreshments will be served for a minimal charge. Bring a lawn chair and/or blanket to this evening of fun at Rendezvous Park. Hot dogs, chips & beverage – $1/plate.

Concerts in the Garden is a casual, outdoor event featuring musicians from across the country. In addition to great music, guests can enjoy local grass-fed hamburgers, bratwursts, various salads, root beer floats, beer and wine. In the event of rain, concerts will be moved into the Museum’s Galleries. July 15 features Sister Sparrow and the Dirty Birds.

The public is invited to a performance by Amanda Standalone and the Pastryshop Girls, who will share their music at the Crookston and Moorhead Public Library branches of Lake Agassiz Regional Library this July. Featuring instruments such as acoustic guitar, washtub bass, and fiddle—along with their haunting three part harmonies—Amanda Standalone and the Pastryshop Girls play original music based in the Americana/folk tradition. They also offer an eclectic mix of obscure cover tunes, and a few modern pop songs simplified, not synthesized. Appropriate for all ages. No admission and open to the public.
