Happy Mother’s Day!

My mother’s name is Marlyn Redman. Marlyn, pronounced like Marlin. My dad’s name was Lilburn, (nicknamed ‘Peanuts’). We enjoy unique names in my family. My mother was raised on a farm, the eldest daughter of 5 siblings. She and my father were Abstractors and owned JM Devine Abstract Co in Minot, ND. Mom typed in the kitchen when my brother and I were young, and is a very successful business woman today. She raised us to believe we could be anything we wanted to be, to value hard work, and to grow into responsible adults. She is smart, has the best laugh, and is generous with her family. She subscribes to the Forum so that she can follow what happens in Moorhead. I am one lucky daughter.

Although we all have our individuality, it’s not hard to see that our parents put a stamp on who we are now. At the dinner table, our conversation was usually a mix of family things, current events and business issues. We learn by their example, by their words and deeds. Thank you for helping mold me into the person I am. Thank you to all the mothers and other adults in their lives that love, mold and cherish us.
