Sweet & Savory Meatballs

This winter has been a challenge to say the least! Today it is sunny and bright, but frigid and I am thankful that we have had so many sunny days. Going to the YMCA almost every day has kept me from getting cabin fever and I like to think that working out is my job. I have met many people at the Y and miss anyone who is not there for a few days or weeks and wonder if they are ill or on a tropical cruise or down south where it is warmer. The recipe today was given to me by someone that I met at the Y and she told me her family requests the meatballs when they go to visit them. I have not yet prepared this, but plan to do so this week.

Sweet & Savory Meatballs

1 Lb. hamburger

1/4 Cup dry bread crumbs

1/4 Cup chopped onion

1 Egg, beaten

1 Small clove garlic, minced

Mix above ingredients together and shape into balls, brown in a pan until cooked through.

Add:

1 Can golden mushroom soup

1 Can stewed tomatoes (16 oz.)

2 Tablespoons vinegar

2 Tablespoons brown sugar

2 Teaspoons soy sauce

Simmer a few minutes and serve over rice.
