TO SEARCH FOR NEW EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

Fargo, ND—Greg Diehl, current Executive Director, has announced that he is leaving the Rape & Abuse Crisis Center (RACC) to pursue a new career opportunity at the Emergency Food Pantry. His last day of employment with the Center will be October 31, 2013. Diehl, The Board of Directors and the center’s staff will work together to ensure RACC continues to provide community services, while the selection process for a new Executive Director begins.

The board’s first step will be to engage transitional leadership with a goal of identifying new leadership by year end.

The Rape and Abuse Crisis Center of Fargo-Moorhead is an independent non-profit agency that began in 1977. The agency provides services to all persons who have been affected by personal violence to include domestic violence, sexual assault, and child sexual abuse.

Utility Drop Box Added at Public Works Building

The City of Grand Forks has made it a little easier for residents to pay their utility bills. A second drop box has been installed at the Public Works building at 724 N. 47th St. Residents may safely drop off payments for their monthly utility bill at any time.

A drop box is also available at City Hall, 255 N. 4th St. Yet another option is to pay on-line by logging on to the city’s web page at www.grandforksgov.com

And as part of the Mayor’s Green3 Initiative, Grand Forks residents can sign up to receive their utility bills via e-mail. To sign up, customers need their account number and verification code – both of which are on current utility bills – and log on to www.grandforksgov.com

Leadership expertto present ‘The Power of Understanding People’ keynote Nov. 7

Public Notification of High Risk Sex Offender

FARGO, N.D. (Oct. 14, 2013) – The Fargo Police Department is notifying the community that a registered sex offender is living in the area. Jeffrey Wayne Wright is residing at 1122 2nd Ave. S. #3, Fargo, North Dakota. Wright was assessed as a HIGH RISK offender by the North Dakota Sex Offender Risk Assessment committee. The following information describes Wright and his offense:

48 years old, 5’9”, 220 lbs., brown eyes, black hair

Offense Background:

Wright was convicted of Gross Sexual Imposition in Cass County ND District Court on 08/28/2003 and Criminal Sexual Assault in Springfield County IL District Court on 06/24/1991. Both victims were adult females and in both cases threats of violence were used. The Springfield County victim was an acquaintance while the Cass County victim was a stranger. Wright is a lifetime registrant.

Proposals sought for honeybee research

BISMARCK – Agriculture Commissioner Doug Goehring has announced that up to $75,000 is available to fund research devoted to health problems of honeybees.

“The North Dakota Department of Agriculture (NDDA) is seeking grant proposals for research into finding practical solutions to honeybee health issues,” he said. “The State Legislature made this money available to counter the increasing seriousness of bee diseases and parasites.”

Goehring said applicants can submit proposals for any or all of five research priorities:

· Colony collapse cause, management

· Varroa mite control

· Understanding honeybee viruses and effects on honeybee health

· Correlating pathogen presence to management practices

· Other problem-solving ideas of interest to the beekeeping industry

Funded research projects must be completed by June 1, 2015. Multiple grants may be awarded. Proposals to extend previously funded projects will be considered.
