Connect the parks is a series of events hosted at Pillsbury Park in downtown Grand Forks. Our goal is to enhance our community by engaging the interstitial spaces of downtown, our pocket parks, by partnering with local businesses and local talent. The events will be in the evenings during the last week of the month throughout the summer. Each event will have entertainment and food specials from downtown restaurants.

Hall Wine Dinner:

Location: Maxwells at 1380 9th St. E., in West Fargo

Unveiling of artwork by new featured artist, Dan Jones, followed by dinner and a silent auction, music by the Dave Ferreira Trio, the event is a fundraiser for the North Dakota Homeless Coalition.

FM RedHawks Baseball vs Sioux Falls Canaries:

Location: Newman Outdoor Field in Fargo

The FM RedHawks are a member of the American Association of Independent Professional Baseball Clubs.

Friday Night Races:

Location: River Cities Speedway at 2300 Gateway Dr. in Grand Forks

Date: Every Friday from May 17 through September 13

Time: Hot Laps at 6:30pm, Racing at 7:30pm

Every Friday, mid-April through mid-September, River Cities Speedway will be alive with the sights and sounds of Premier Racing! Outlaw Sprints, Late Models, Midwest Modifieds and Street Stocks will all vying for the checkered flag on one of the region’s best 1/3-mile dirt tracks.

2013 Summer Special Olympics Games of North Dakota:

Fargo will serve as host of the Special Olympics North Dakota State Summer Games, more than 500 participants from North Dakota will compete in the two-day event in bocce ball, volleyball, track and field, powerlifting and swimming

Street Faire at the Lakes:

Elite Dance Performance:

A showcase of dancers ages 3-adult in jazz, tap, ballet, hip-hop and more.

Party on the Plaza:

Location: Ralph Engelstad Arena in Grand Forks

Kick off the summer with an outdoor concert on the plaza at Ralph Engelstad Arena. This FREE event will feature PopROCKS, a high energy music show that combines the energy of an arena rock show with the theatrics of a Broadway show.

American Cancer Society Relay for Life:

Location: University Part at 320 N. 25th St. in Grand Forks

Time: 5:00pm Friday to 8:00am Saturday

This important event features hundreds of luminaries lighting a path through University Park in memory of those who have battled cancer. Everyone is invited to walk and/or to purchase a luminary in to honor a loved one.

Fargo Garden Society Plant Sale:

North Country Fiddle & Dance Welcome Summer Community Dance:

Comstock House Open House:

The Comstock House is an 1882 Victorian Home with the original furnishings of Moorhead pioneer Solomon G. Comstock. A state senator, Comstock is considered the founder of Minnesota State University Moorhead, and with his wife, Sarah, was instrumental in establishing the first public library in Moorhead.

EGF Campbell Library presents their 2013 community Art Exhibit. Local and regional artists will exhibit their work in various media at the library June 3-July 27. The exhibit opening and reception is June 3 at 6:30. Sally Morris, a local musician and a local author will join the visual artists. The public is invited.

Lil’ Fishermen’s Derby:

Bring your rod and have fun trying to land a big one! The day will start with a fishing clinic. Then, put your skills to the test in the fishing derby with an awards presentation to follow. Adult supervision is recommended for the derby. Ages 15 and under.

An annual tradition at the Moorhead Public Library! Join us outside, just North of the library for our kick off to our Summer Reading Program. The Pet show is open to our animal friends: real, imaginary, stuffed animals, or shared via a photograph. Pets can enter for a chance to win prizes. All pets must be parent approved and please make sure to have a leash, kennel, or carry your pet to keep them safe.
