Schulz named Certified Fair Executive

Bryan Schulz of the Red River Valley Fair Association in West Fargo, North Dakota received the Certified Fair Executive status at the International Association of Fairs and Expositions (IAFE) Spring Management Conference held in West Palm Beach, Florida.  

 To receive the Certified Fair Executive status, the applicant must have a minimum of five years’ experience in an executive role.  Seventeen individuals received the distinguished status.  Those receiving the status are honored members of the Association and demonstrate their abilities through years of service to their fairs, communities and the International Association of Fairs and Expositions Association.  It is a highly designated status in the industry. 

 Schulz is the General Manager at the RRVFA and oversees all operational facets of the Fair industry, campground and Big Iron Farm Show.  Schulz has been with the RRVFA since January, 2008. 

 The International Association of Fairs and Expositions is headquartered in Springfield, Missouri and serves the interest of agricultural fairs (county fair, state fairs, and regional fairs) across the globe.

12th Ave. N. Toll Bridge Now Open to Traffic

 FARGO, N.D. (May 7, 2013) – The 12th Ave. N. Toll Bridge is now open to traffic. The bridge had been closed on April 27 due to flooding.

Electronic Recycling Day Moved to June 1

FARGO, N.D. –The City of Fargo would like to remind residents that the Electronics Recycling Day, originally scheduled for May 4, has been rescheduled for Saturday, June 1.

The City of Fargo does not pick-up electronics or household hazardous waste products during Cleanup Week.

Please note the Household Hazardous Waste Facility, located at 606 43 1/2 St. N., also accepts one computer set (tower, monitor and accessories) as well as one television per resident, per month.

Yard Waste Bins Now in Place at Recycling Drop Sites

FARGO, N.D. (May 1, 2013) – Yard waste bins are now available at 13 recycling drop sites throughout Fargo. Residents are asked to haul grass clippings and other yard waste to these sites now through October 31, 2013, as it will no longer be collected curbside. Tree branches may not be placed in the bins. Yard waste bins are located at the following recycling drop sites:

North Fargo

Longfellow Park: Elm St and Forest Ave. N.

Waste Water Plant: Intersection of 10 St. and 37th Ave. N.

North Coliseum: 10th St., N. of 17th Ave. N.

Solid Waste Department: 2301 8th Ave. N.

Mickelson Field: 9th Ave. N., east of Oak St. (Temporarily relocated to Horace Mann)

South Fargo

Water Plant: 4th St. and 13th Ave. S.

Lift Station: 42nd St. and 2nd Ave. SW

52nd Annual Fish & Smelt Fry, Thursday, May 16th

An All You Can Eat Fish & Smelt Fry, which includes coleslaw, baked beans and more will be held on Thursday, May 16th at the El Zagal Shrine Club House located at 1429 3rd Street North in Fargo.  There will also be Meat Raffles with slabs of Bacon, Canadian Bacon, Ham and more during the event which runs from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.  The public is invited to this 21 years of age and older event.  Tickets are only $15 in advance or $18 at the door.

Grand Forks Unveils Homebuyer Assistance Program

The City of Grand Forks is accepting applications for a new home buyer assistance program. The Down Payment & Closing Cost Assistance program will provide no-interest, no-payment deferred loans of up to $10,000 for income-eligible buyers.

The program comes on the heels of recommendations by the Mayor’s Blue Ribbon Commission on Housing that suggested opening up additional opportunities to potential homeowners.

“One of the pillars of the Grand Forks Promise is to make sure our community is an affordable place to live and do business,” said Mayor Michael Brown. “This program lives up to that promise and opens new avenues of opportunities for would-be homeowners.”

The program is limited to homes within the Grand Forks city limits. It will be administered by the City’s Office of Urban Development.

Sex Offender Change of Address Notification

The Fargo Police Department would like to inform the public of a moderate risk sex offender who has changed their address: Gary Wayne Davis

Davis, is a Homeless Sex Offender and is keeping in daily contact with the Fargo Police Department.
Born in 1945, 5’8”, 175 lbs.
Blue eyes, Blond hair

Offense Background: Davis was convicted of Indecent Exposure in Richland County ND in 1999 and a second charge of Indecent Exposure in Cass County ND in 2007. Both victims were adult females. Davis is required to register as a sex offender until 7/17/2027.

Ashton Lee Norton

Public Notification of Wanted Sex Offender

FARGO, N.D.– The Fargo Police Department is notifying the community that Ashton Lee Norton of Fargo has failed to maintain his registration in accordance with state law and is currently wanted for failure to register, a C felony. Norton has failed to notify the Fargo Police Department of his change in address and to maintain communication with law enforcement. Norton was assessed as a low risk offender by the North Dakota Sex Offender Risk Assessment Committee. 

Born in 1989, 6’02”, 185 lbs, Blue eyes, Blond hair

 Offense Background:

Norton was adjudicated in Cass County Juvenile Court for GSI in 2004. Norton’s victims were children under the age of 15 who were acquainted with Norton prior to the assault. Norton is required to register until 11/29/2019.
