Hold That Thought

If you build a home, business or any kind of structure, how well the foundation is will determine if it’s gonna last. It’s the same as a family laying down a moral code (or foundation) for the raising of their kids.

Almost everything needs a foundation or structured beginning. Take the Ten Commandments for instance. EVEN IF YOU DO NOT believe where these rules came from, if we all followed them what a wonderful would we would live in.

It’s the same with our constitution; it was set up by some pretty smart people who looked long and hard getting things down to making a lot of sense.

Some of our old leaders were really smart; take Thomas Jefferson, read about his background, education and experience. Just think about some of the things he said:

“The democracy will cease to exist when you take away from those who are willing to work and give to those who would not.” This guy is telling us that we are heading for end of democracy if we don’t fix some big problems.

“It is incumbent on every generation to pay its own debts as it goes. A principle which if acted on would save one-half the wars of the world.”

(Amen Brother.)

“I predict future happiness for Americans if they can prevent the government from wasting the labors of the people under the pretence of taking care of them.” (Good predictor huh?)

More of Thomas Jefferson’s thoughts;

“My reading of history convinces me that most bad government results from too much government.”

“No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms.” “The strongest reason for the people to retain the right to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against tyranny in government.” (He knew gun issues would return again & again.)

“I believe that banking institutions are more dangerous to our liberties than standing armies.” (This might be worth thinking about too.)

If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issue of their currency, first by inflation, then by deflation, the banks and corporations that will grow up around the banks will deprive the people of all property – until their children wake-up homeless on the continent their fathers conquered.”

I believe this is happening right now. It seems that the entire family has to work to make ends meet, and the more you work, the more you make, the more taxes and prices go up.

I think I’ll have to go read some more of what the old forefathers said, interesting stuff!
