The museum will begin winter hours January 1. The hours will be Monday through Saturday from 9 am to 5 pm and Sunday from noon to 5 pm. Regular hours will resume March 1.

NDSU commencement set for Dec. 14 in Bison Sports Arena
Fargo, N.D., Dec. 10, 2012 – NDSU will honor its largest ever fall graduating class during winter commencement ceremonies, which are scheduled for Friday, Dec. 14, at 4 p.m. in the Bison Sports Arena.
As of Dec. 10, a total of 756 graduate, professional and undergraduate students are eligible to participate, and 522 have indicated they intend to march in the ceremony.
The events are free and open to the public. Doors open one hour before the start of the ceremony, and guests may enter through the north and south entrances. Guest seating is on a first-come, first-served basis. Complete commencement information, including details on parking, is available at www.ndsu.edu/commencement.
Fire Fighters Urge Caution with Christmas Trees, Lights & Ornaments
FARGO, ND (December 7, 2012) – The Fargo Fire Department would like to caution residents who choose to use a natural pine Christmas tree this holiday season. In previous years, personal injuries and significant damage to homes have been caused from natural Christmas tree fires.
Equally important this holiday season is following all manufacturer guidelines for Christmas tree lights, ornaments and decorations, and keeping candles away from all of them. Christmas and New Year’s are two of the top four days a year for candle fires.
Following these simple fire safety tips can keep electric lights, candles and the ever popular Christmas tree from creating a tragedy:
Don’t put your live Christmas tree up too early or leave it up for longer than two weeks.
Place trees away from heat sources, including fireplaces or heat vents. The heat will dry out the tree, causing it to be more easily ignited by heat, flame or sparks.
Keep the live tree stand filled with water at all times.
Use only nonflammable decorations.
Don’t link more than three light strands, unless the directions indicate it’s safe.
Connect strings of lights to an extension cord before plugging the cord into the outlet.
Avoid using lit candles; consider using battery-operated flameless candles, which can look, smell and feel like real candles
Ensure that Christmas trees and other holiday decorations don’t block an exit way.
Cat Found in Jamestown Tests Positive for Rabies
People Who May Have Been Exposed to the Animal Are Urged To Contact the Department of Health
BISMARCK, N.D. – The North Dakota Department of Health and Board of Animal Health are asking the public for assistance in identifying people who may have been exposed to a rabid cat in Jamestown.
The cat was found on Nov. 30, 2012, by local animal control authorities close to the Tesoro gas station at 2015 8th Avenue Southwest in Jamestown. The adult female cat was an orange and white tabby with long hair and was declawed. The cat tested positive for rabies at the North Dakota Department of Health’s Division of Laboratory Services on Dec. 6, 2012.
It is not known who owned the cat, or if the cat was from Jamestown or dropped off there. Anybody missing a cat matching the description or who may have information about this cat should contact the North Dakota Department of Health. Pet owners who believe one of their pets may have been exposed to the rabid cat should contact their local veterinarian or the State Veterinarian’s office.
Anybody who was bitten or otherwise exposed to the saliva of this animal should contact their healthcare provider and the North Dakota Department of Health immediately to determine the need to receive preventive treatment for rabies.
