MSUM high school Art-a-Fair Event celebrates a decade on Feb. 2
MOORHEAD – Minnesota State University Moorhead’s annual tri-state high school juried art exhibition runs through Feb. 2 in the Roland Dille Center for the Arts. Gallery hours are Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., and Saturday, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The juried exhibit is part of the School of Art’s Art-a-Fair, culminating in art workshops on Friday, Feb. 2
A 60’ long collaborative public art Visual Art Sketchbook Mural project will be in progress on Friday, Feb. 2, from 10 a.m. to 2:20 p.m. in the art gallery. The work entitled “Creating a Better World” will capture the ideas and images of the 300+ participants of what their generation thinks would create a more hopeful, just, and peaceful world.
A panel of professors has juried the exhibition sponsored by the Kiwanis Club of Fargo. They will award over $1,000 in prize money at a ceremony Friday, Feb. 2, from 11:50 a.m. to 12:20 p.m. in the Center for the Arts Hansen Theatre. Student winners will be announced in eight categories: painting, drawing, 2D mixed media, printmaking, functional pottery and crafts, sculpture, photography, and media arts. Prizes will be awarded to the best North Dakota and Minnesota schools.
More than 300 students and teachers from high schools in three states will attend workshops from 10 a.m. to 2:20 p.m. by visual art, media art and music faculty, advanced students, regional arts organizations, and local artists. Students select from topics including digital design, beginning wheel throwing, caricature art, sculpture, screen printing, advanced painting, body art, comics and illustration, art therapy, media art, music sessions, creative career possibilities and more.

CONCORDIA COLLEGE SHOWS FACULTY ART
MOORHEAD – The public is invited to Concordia College’s annual Faculty Art Exhibition, which will run from Tuesday, Jan. 23, to Sunday, Feb. 18, in the Cyrus M. Running Gallery at Concordia College.
The show features the work of Concordia’s own Ross Hilgers, professor of ceramics, Jess Matson-Fluto, assistant professor of drawing, painting, and 2D foundations, Chris Mortenson, associate professor of art, Dr. Danielle Gravon, adjunct instructor of digital design, and Dwight Mickelson, adjunct instructor of 3D/sculpture.
Faculty members work in a variety of media including clay, oil, painting, photography, printmaking, and sculpture.
The Running Gallery is open from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday.

FARGO CRIME-CON DEBUTS
FARGO – February 10-11, Fargo Ramada by Wyndham.
An event with vendors of all kinds.. speakers and guests ranging from FBI and police investigators to journalists and podcasters and independent investigators to psychics and paranormal experts and authors and personalities from film, television and the literary world. We will not glorify the perpetrators or allow commercial promotions of them and if sensitive cases are referenced, we will use the utmost respect and caution in doing so.
Fargo Crime-Con has local and regional law enforcement professionals and others who are involved with cases of all kinds, including some of the most famous and engrossing cases in our area. Representatives of the Wetterling Foundation as well as the Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women group, the local police departments and more are already set to appear and we are working on a few more. Covering everything from famous cases to personal protection and cold cases, Fargo Crime-Com will also highlight some of the fictional counterparts that inspire interest.
