Memorial Day is the unofficial kick-off to grilling season. No matter what your grilling skill is – there is one dish that we can all make…hot dogs. A traditional hot dog with grill marks is a sign of summer, an indication of vacation and a favorite at any picnic. This week, we decided to offer a few options for taking your hot dog game up a few notches. Below you will find three variations on the traditional frankfurter that will make your weekend BBQ the talk of the town.
“The Fargo” – a hot dog topped with baked beans and potato chips.
Assemble your hot dog and then spoon on baked beans. Crumble potato chips for a crunchy topping that says, “Heck yes I want seconds!”
“Hot & Cold Dog” – a hot dog topped with a hot and cold blue cheese buffalo sauce.
1 ½ cup sour cream
½ cup hot sauce (Frank’s Buffalo is great)
½ cup blue cheese crumbles
Combine all ingredients together and store in the refrigerator. Serve with a side of celery sticks!
“The Grad Dog” – a hot dog with pulled pork and coleslaw.
Open bun and add a layer of pulled pork. A small blast of your favorite BBQ sauce. Put the hot dog in the middle and slap some coleslaw on the top. This hot dog is perfect for those households with a lot of leftover pulled pork from a graduation celebration!
