Join the Pop Lit Book Club as we read “Virgil Wander” by Leif Enger ahead of the author’s visit to the Moorhead Library on October 16. Forget Who, Learn How: A Discussion on the Current Immigration Crisis, 7:30 pm @ Knutson Campus Center at Concordia College. Presentation and discussion on the current immigration crisis in the southern border of the United States, and how as neighbors, we need to do better in being welcoming, empathetic, and understanding. This event is being hosted by the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Commission of Concordia College
Cheryl Nelson Lossett Performing Arts Series Special Event: “Live Bird, 7:30 pm @ Gaede Stage at MSUM. Live Bird is a one-man play celebrating the life of jazz legend and alto saxophonist Charlie “Bird” Parker. Set in a small jazz club in Harlem NYC, the play was written by playwright, director, actor, and saxophonist Jeff Robinson. $12-$28.

10th Annual Roers/Keller Williams Chili Feed for United Way, 11:30 am @ Roers Shop at 4402 2nd Ave. S. in Fargo. Join us for the 10th anniversary bash, where there will be 50 chilies to try, an abundance of desserts to fix your sweet tooth, and a warm fuzzy feeling in the air because we are raising money for those in need. All proceeds benefit the United Way. Come have lunch for a free will donation.

The History of Florence Klingensmith, 6:30 pm @ Moorhead Public Library at 118 5th St. S. Mark Peihl, Archivist from the Historical and Cultural Society of Clay County will give a presentation on Florence Klingensmith, a Clay County girl who found success and fame in aviation at a time when pilots were the superstars of the day and women faced discrimination we can hardly imagine. This event is offered as part of the Fargo-Moorhead area’s 2019 One Book, One Community series.
