Folkways Night Bazaar, 5:00 pm @ 63 5th St. N. Enjoy an evening of food, music, art, and live performance at Folkway’s Night Bazaar. Listen to live music Jon Walters – Music, Kayla Gallegos and Anthony Lamb, Drift, and 6th Street Revue. Shop from local artists, makers, and vintage shops. Grab a drink from Front Street Taproom or dinner from food trucks and carts. This event is free and family friendly.

80’s Movie Series: E.T., 8:30 pm @ Heritage Garden & Amphitheater – Woodlawn Park at
400 Woodlawn Dr. We’re stepping back in time again this summer! Enjoy the family-friendly 80’s classic E.T. at the Heritage Garden and Amphitheater in Woodlawn Park. The movie begins at dusk, with popcorn, bug spray, and blankets provided. 1980’s era costumes are encouraged! This event is free and open to the public and organized by the Plains Art Museum.

Friday, Aug 16:
Gate City Bank presents Bluestem: 50th Anniversary of Peace & Music (2-Day Event) @ Bluestem Amphitheatre in Moorhead. Jade Presents and Merrill Piepkorn are pleased to announce the Bluestem 50th Anniversary of Peace and Music, a two-day celebration featuring local music, food, and craft vendors. Friday gates open at 5:00 pm, Saturday gates at noon. $29.50 – $79.50.

2019 Food Truck Festival, 11:00 am Friday, Saturday, and Sunday @ 5180 19th Ave. N. in Fargo. North Dakota’s Original Food Truck Festival will feature 20 food trucks from the F-M area and throughout the upper Midwest. This year will feature more trucks, more food, more fun! Soft drinks and alcohol served by Dempsey’s. Plus, live radio broadcast, a live band, prize giveaways, kids’ jumpy gym, craft vendors, and much more.

Saturday, Aug 17:
Pioneer Days at Bonanzaville, 10:00 am and Sunday at noon @ Bonanzaville in West Fargo. Join us at Bonanzaville to get a taste of what life was like for Dakota pioneers! This year, several new elements join your old favorites, including a craft and vendor show, ax throwing, Red River Trivia, and wool dying and rosemaling demonstrations. For the kids there’s a kiddie tractor pull, pioneer games, crafts, and much more! After lunch, enjoy a ride in a horse-drawn wagon or a barrel train before the parade starts at 2 p.m. Regular admission applies.

Movie Matinee, 2:00 pm @ Moorhead Public Library at 118 5th St. S. Join us on the 3rd Saturday of the month for a family film and free popcorn. The library will be screening “The LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part,” ©Warner Bros., rated PG.

International Potluck Summer Music Festival, 5:00 pm @ Heritage Garden & Amphitheater- Woodlawn Park at 400 Woodlawn Dr. Join us for an evening of international food and music at the Heritage Garden and Amphitheater at Woodlawn Park! The festival will feature live musical performances from acoustic guitar player Kwaician, hip hop dance crew The Krownz, blues rock band Sons of Mars, vocalist Durow, and more. The festival will also feature a performance by children attending the event. The children’s performance will be coordinated by Musical Bridges, an organization that connects culture among children through music and interactive learning. Free.

Race the Red Canoe & Kayak Race, 6:30 pm @ Dike East in Fargo. Kayakers and Canoers wanted! All skill levels welcome. Choose your distance, 1.5, 3.5, or 6 miles. Participants will paddle upriver to a designated turnaround point, grab a prize, and return down river to the finish. All races begin and end at the south boat ramp at Dike East (100 2nd Street South in Fargo). The first half of each race is upstream. Entry fee is $15/person if pre-registered. Canoe/kayak rental available for $15 (limited number available).

River Paddling Excursion – Aviary Expedition, 6:00 pm @ Hjemkomst Landing at 202 1st Ave. N. in Moorhead. If you like to canoe or kayak and would like to learn more about the Red River, join us this summer as Moorhead Parks and Recreation and River Keepers host River Paddling Excursions. Take a relaxing downtown river tour as a local guest speaker shares their expertise on the following educational topics. August 21 learn about the different species of birds that live along the Red River and those that utilize it while migrating. Fees: $10/person if you own your own vessel $15/person for canoe/kayak rental.

Minnesota Chapter of T1International Informational Meeting, 6:30 pm @ Moorhead Public Library at 118 5th St. S. The executive leader of Policy and Legislative committee, Kim Munson, will facilitate a discussion on the current insulin crisis facing our state and share the many steps the legislature is pursuing to protect Minnesotans with diabetes.
