A spaghetti dinner and silent auction fundraiser is set to help Lynnette (Mortrud) Creutz, 60, East Grand Forks. All proceeds will go for purchase of a replacement van wheelchair lift and accessories for Creutz, a retired special education school teacher who continues to work and volunteer part time. Creutz has multiple disabilities, including lipo-lymphedema, a genetic condition that causes painful leg enlargement and other body swelling; spondylolisthesis, a degenerative spinal condition; and COPD.

A community event to raise awareness about Alzheimer’s and related dementias, live music by Cat Sank Trio, appetizers, wine and beer, guests encouraged to write or sketch a memory they do not want to forget, also a screening of the independent film, “The Genius of Marian,” guests encouraged to wear purple, the official color symbolizing Alzheimer’s awareness. All proceeds benefit the ND Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association.

Public Welcome! On Relay day, teams take turns walking around the track lined with luminaries in honor or memory of someone diagnosed with cancer. A carnival atmosphere is part of the festivities as teams establish themes, host activities and concessions. The sense of community while walking amidst music and entertainment is an enjoyable time for everybody.

World Refugee Fair and Soccer Tournament will be held on Saturday, June 21st from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 pm downtown Grand Forks at the Town Square. The soccer tournament will be held at Lion’s Park (next to Century Elementary School) at 4:00 p.m. This event is a partnership between Global Friends Coalition and Lutheran Social Services New Americans.
