Red River Area Learning Center students sew dresses for service learning project

In January, Red River Area Learning Center students made dresses from pillowcases to be sent to children in Africa. The students sought donations of new or gently used pillowcases, thread, elastic and trim and received approximately 50 pillowcases and other supplies to use for making dresses.

The goal of the service learning project was to help the students understand the material needs of children in Africa, participate in using their talents to give back to the world around them, learn basic sewing skills and work cooperatively, said Red River ALC teacher Aura Lee Mohror.
